Collage of films I've been a part of (as of 2005).

I'm retiring from acting. Yep, I'm serious.

Over the past few years, I've lost interest in acting and also lost touch with a few people who I've regularly worked with. It's been a natural progression as I've turned down some things here and there and just worked less in general... not that I ever had the busiest schedule. I don't know... I suppose the gimmick has worn off a bit? A major part of it is the lack of challenge. While I'll always be grateful for the opportunities I've had, there are only so many ways you can scream at a rubber monster or get killed on camera by the next ridiculous prop. Don't get me wrong - I've loved working on B-movies. They've been a hell of a lot of fun and there actually have been a few scenes here and there I'd happily put on my demo reel - and have. I'm lucky and grateful to have a resume and will always feel particularly indebted to Mark and the late John Polonia. It's just that it never was my dream to do low budget horror almost exclusively. It's not ALL I've done but if my name were to be synonymous with anything (aside from maybe my show), it'd be indie horror.

I'm not crying "poor me" or anything. Quite the contrary! For a guy who never moved to NYC or LA, I managed to build a resume of ten films, most of which are available for rent or purchase across the country with one or two available internationally. I've walked into a Blockbuster Video and seen myself on the video shelves. Hell, I've even gotten fan mail and a few autograph requests! I'm very proud of that. No, I suppose if I really wanted to be taken more seriously or wanted to pursue more comedy or drama, I would have. If I moved to NYC or LA as I've threatened to do for years, I would've felt challenged... reinvigorated. If I REALLY wanted more opportunity to do the projects I always envisioned being a part of, I would've pursued those avenues. The truth is that, as time has marched on, my interest in acting in general has waned.

It's been a fun ride and who knows? Maybe at some point, if something interesting comes my way, I'll take another look at things. But I really feel that chapter has come to a close. I'll still finish putting The BK Show episodes up on YouTube (slowly but surely but slowly) and maybe have another showing of the film but after that, that's it.

And of course, there's the OTHER reason: how many people get to retire from anything in their 30's? I mean, really... athletes, entertainers and entrepreneurs. You really can't overstate the cool factor here.

So what's next? Golfing, eating at Wendy's and reading People magazine all day? No, I've always had a major interest/obsession with music. I've taken voice, piano and guitar lessons off and on for years and auditioned for a few bands and such but never really followed through. I've always had the ear and it's an outlet I've neglected for far too long. In the last couple of years in particular, I've found myself gravitating toward making music. So for now, it's open mic nights and karaoke as I'm still getting used to singing in front of people. I'm also getting ready to throw down some bread for a humble home recording studio. As for the future, who knows? Too early to tell. All I know is that I'm ready to turn the page and explore something I've wanted for a long, long time. Viva life!

This is what it's like when worlds collide. (February 2010).

Tom Green brought his World Stand Up Comedy Tour to The Improv in Pittsburgh this past Saturday and you can bet I was there! His act was freaking hilarious as the show was sold out. Ron and I were there about half an hour before the doors opened and were one of the first in line. Our seats were amazing... so close I was resting my leg on the stage! Needless to say, being that close there was plenty of interaction with Tom. We high fived, shook hands, fist-bumped and yelled out stuff at one another several times during his act! I think he could tell who the true fans in the audience were.

After the show, we made our way out to the lobby where I finally got the chance to meet him. I shook his hand and thanked him for the inspiration to do my own show. Then, I gave him a copy of THE BRICE KENNEDY SHOW: THE MOVIE and he told me that he'd seen the theme song video I posted on his site. Tom Green ALREADY watched The BK Show! Ha!

All in all, it was a phenomenal night. Tom was down to earth and a cool cat and The Improv's atmosphere, staff, food and drinks were top notch. They get great comedians there all the time... highly recommended.

Are you lost?
Do you feel like life has no purpose?
Have you ever wondered if there's anything more out there?

Scisapism is the way.

Welcome to The Church of Scissors and Grapes. For those seeking life's true answers, Scisapism offers fulfillment through two of life's most majestic creations. We believe that by literally worshipping Scissors and Grapes, one can attain a sense of serenity and contentment and is moved to feel at peace with the wonders of life. Blessed are those touched by handle and vine.

So why Scissors? Why Grapes? It's simple: we believe. Isn't that a good enough answer? Well, of course not. Believing "just because" is an incredibly silly reason to worship any deity. The truth is that with other religions people often complain of not FEELING anything. However, Scisapists know that by cutting objects and eating grapes, you're using your five senses to bask in Their eminent splendor and all of life's worries and negativity seem to just fade away.

While we respect other religions, The Church of Scissors and Grapes also stands firm in our belief that the true path lies with blade and seed. Worshipping false gods such as Buddha, Jesus, Xenu and the Flying Spaghetti Monster will only lead to confusion and disappointment. You don't need to sit in church questioning the fairy tales anymore. If you've tried the Christianities, the Judaisms and the Scientologies and were left feeling empty, Scisapism welcomes you. And for those of you who other religions might call "science types" who need evidence to believe, you'll find that, unlike other religions, deity confirmation is simple. You can SEE the Scissors. TASTE the Grapes. All who worship Them know that that Scisapism is the way. Handle and vine, blade and seed... Scissor and Grape.

So why believe in something you can't see... nor hear, touch, smell or taste? The answer is simple. You don't have to. After all, it may be true that not all who wander are lost. But all who WONDER certainly are. So wonder no more! Don't just believe. KNOW... that Scisapism is the way.

The Church of Scissors and Grapes.
"Through blade and seed, all shall thrive."

At long last, definitive proof of Armageddon (November 2009).

BREAKING NEWS! "BEST OF" SHOW TO BE A FEATURE FILM!

So, after cutting Episode 7 for a few weeks now, I'm finding there's just too much stuff that MUST be included in a "Best Of" clip show and it's clear that for this to be a true "Best Of" it has to run longer than an hour. So this means I finally have the opportunity to produce what John Polonia said I should've years ago... THE BRICE KENNEDY SHOW: THE MOVIE!!

The film will probably top out at around 1:20 and will be similar to JACKASS: THE MOVIE in that it will basically be one long episode. The unofficial title of the film will be "The Brice Kennedy Show: The Movie - The Very Best of the Essential Greatest Hits of The Brice Kennedy Show Anthology Collection: The Complete Works - Season One: 1999-2009, Vol. 1: The Public Access Years (Director's Cut) - 'A Decade of The Idiocy' 10th Anniversary Special Edition DVD VHS Laser-ray" besting BORAT for longest movie title... not EVER but maybe in recent years. Making this feature length also opens up other doors making options like DVD distribution and Amazon.com sales possible plus, of course, another feature film credit on IMDb. Should be exciting!

So come on down and celebrate the 10 Year Anniversary of The Show with free beer and hilarity! Sandra Black will do their take on my theme song and it's being kept a surprise from me so that should be interesting. The event, formerly known as The "The Best of The Brice Kennedy Show" Show, will take place on Saturday, December 12th at 7PM at the Marriott SpringHill Suites behind the Burger King in Sabraton.

It's The Idiocy! It's The Return of Comedy! It's The Brice Kennedy Show... as a movie?! WTF?! It's THE BRICE KENNEDY SHOW: THE MOVIE, Billy!

ABOUT THE SHOW:
Born out of the twisted, random psyche of independent film actor Brice Kennedy, The Brice Kennedy Show is a public access comedic variety talk show television program. Equal parts nonsensical chicanery and performance art, The Show mixes live in-studio guests and musical performances with pre-taped 'man on the street' segments, erratic stunts, abstract spectacles and other ridiculous ridiculosities to celebrate the absurd.

WHAT (two) PEOPLE HAVE SAID ABOUT THE SHOW:
"... Brice's totally twisted, and sometimes surreal, comedic bent shines through."
-WVMusicScene.com

"... Kennedy brings humor to the screen not only with his amusing antics... His energetic persona could draw even the quietest guest out of his or her shell."
-Mary-Lynn Bender, Writer of college essay about The Show

A decade of The Idiocy (1999-2009).

It’s hard to believe but next month marks ten years since I first came up with the concept of THE BRICE KENNEDY SHOW. Ten years since that fateful day near the beginning of the decade when I learned of a public access TV station in Pittsburgh, PCTV 21... and with that the possibility that all my dreams of wonderfully silly creative expression could actually materialize. Ten years of The Idiocy represented by countless acts of chicanery and deabauchery... from standing in the middle of the road in my underwear to pissing off my mom by shaking a bag of beans at her at 6 in the morning to interviewing (and pissing off) "DAYS OF OUR LIVES" soap stars. Ten years of editing, then not editing for months (and years) on end. A long, bumpy, beautiful decade.

So last week, my buddy Eric Brown and I cut the VO for The Weekly Word Four. The Weekly Word Four was this little act that we'd do around each other back in junior high that consisted of one of us holding up two fingers (just because) and stating that week's "four words". The first (and most memorable) week's words were: sound, farm, chest, book. See kids, THE BRICE KENNEDY SHOW can wax educational, too. It was the first NEW audio for The Show in years and, in a sign of how much time had passed, I used my iPhone of all things to record the voiceovers of Eric and I each stating the "word four".

Fittingly enough, I started work on The Show at the start of this decade and by year's end, will be wrapping things up... at the end of this decade. The closer I get to actually finishing this thing, the more I see everything coming full circle. Giddy and gee.

Brice Kennedy: The Sim.

So I was clicking buttons on my computer machine one time and found something that made me look at it with my eyes. Apparently some guy named Asher plays The Sims a lot and named one of his characters... (roll of the drums)... Brice Kennedy. I'm a Sim! You can check out the Kennedy family here, here and here.

I also learned whilst Googling myself that I was part of a question in some kind of b-movie quiz thing. On the Return of the Killer B Movies quiz, scroll down to #5 to see the question about my character in the film Night Thirst. The wonders of the internets.

So in order to protect the hot commodity... the household name... the precious BRAND that I have indeed become, I decided to register the BriceKennedy.NET domain name in addition to .COM. Upon securing the highly sought-after URL, the registrar GoDaddy.com, obviously recognizing the entertainment powerhouse that is The BK, opted to throw in BriceKennedy.INFO for a few bills more. So now, anytime you want to access this brilliant blog, you can go to my name .COM,. NET or .INFO! Oh, the choices!!

So sometimes, when I'm checking out reviews of films I've done, it's not always the most pleasant experience (as anyone who's been in this kind of boat can tell you). It's not all bad... it's just that with some of the b-movies I've been involved with, bad acting in general is sometimes cited along with other criticisms which are fair at times, other times not as fair. It's not that there's a complaint about my performance specifically. Actually, I don't recall being singled out as a bad actor (although I admit that selective memory can be a very potent mind trick). Seriously though, any decent performance turned in by myself or one of my fellow actor buddies does tend to get lost in the shuffle at times. So it's nice when I read a review or comment somewhere from someone who "gets it" and doesn't unfairly compare these films with the latest Hollywood blockbuster. I was checking out some reviews on Amazon the other day and came across a couple of comments on PETER ROTTENTAIL and SPLATTER BEACH that DID single me out and had a few nice things to say.

"A high point was the acting of Brice Kennedy. Although often presenting awkwardly written dialogue, he managed to draw you in and make you forget that he was acting. I could see him being a pretty good character actor in mainstream movies or TV."

"PETER ROTTENTAIL" review on Amazon

"Brice Kennedy is very funny as 'cool-dude' Rodney, chunky chain with a large dollar sign around his neck, clunky line in coolspeak..."

"SPLATTER BEACH" review on Amazon

"With Kennedy's latest role, he clearly reaches the very pinnacle of intense character study... displaying true dedication to his craft, his performance is one of those rare cinematic treats unparalleled in modern Hollywood."
While this isn't exactly anything new, I wanted to mention this here because a few people have told me their actor page on me doesn't list all the films they have o' mine so here are the individual links... oh and I also added links in the sidebar on the right to my pages on Netflix, Blockbuster, Fandango and AllMovieGuide as well as my IndieResourceGuide resume/headhot/reel page. Links-A-Plenty!

Michael Jackson. I don't usually get wrapped up in the celebrity stuff so I was caught off guard when I found myself crying over the past week or so. But I grew up listening to MJ both in the 80's and 90's and feel a somewhat of a connection through the music. I don't care what anyone says (and trust me when I say that it will be popular to say this from now on, but I've said it all along): I never believed Michael was guilty of anything other than being different thanks in part to a tragic childhood leading to an absolute alien-like experience of what we call life.

Discovering the genius melding of the rock and dance of "Beat It"... getting the MJ doll for Christmas... trying to incorporate the moonwalk into my breakdancing routine... getting scared out of my Pac-Man PJ's watching "Thriller"... my pal Bobby and I singing along to all 37 singles from "Bad"... watching the premiere of "Black or White" after THE SIMPSONS... honing my impersonation to the amusement of Jay and Ryan... flipping out at the awesomeness of "Scream"... I'm only now realizing how much these memories mean to me... and how many...

Thank you Michael. Rest in peace, my friend, for you have inspired millions.

Posing with the legendary composer Nobuo Uematsu (April 2009).

I recently met two of my childhood heroes: the greatest professional wrestler to ever lace up a pair of boots and the greatest video game composer to ever score a note: "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair and the great Nobuo Uematsu... okay, so they're still my heroes.

I first caught a flight to Grand Rapids, Michigan to see the "Distant Worlds" Final Fantasy symphony. I also have family there and had fun visiting cousins Tina, Jessi and Mark while I was in town. The music of Final Fantasy is some of the most beautiful music I've ever heard and Uematsu's music has inspired, uplifted and entertained me since the original Final Fantasy back in the late eighties. The symphony was amazing and even Tina, who wasn't familiar with the music, turned to me and said "Oh my god" upon hearing the accompanying Grand Rapids Chamber Choir.

All the great FF tracks were represented: "Aerith's Theme", "One Winged Angel", "Fithos Lusec Wecos Vinosec", "Chocobo's Theme", "To Zanarkand" and other memorable pieces. One of the highlights was when they played a cut scene from FFVIII followed by the random battle zoom in effect and then immediately started into "Don't Be Afraid", the FFVIII battle theme! I actually called my pals Jay and Nick during a couple of tracks so they could hear... and maybe to gloat a little. They also ended the set by playing "Terra's Theme" from FFVI (which was also the end credits from the game) then rolled credits from the concerts over the original game credits. Sleek! Hearing this great music live was an unforgettable experience.

After the concert, I actually met a friend I knew only from YouTube which lent a real community feel to the event. Then, I headed upstairs to meet Nobuo Uematsu... to actually meet the guy who composed all these dozens and dozens of great tracks! While waiting in line, I met someone interesting people including a couple who came all the way from Salt Lake City. So, after waiting in line for an hour and a half, I approached the table where Uematsu-san was sitting with Arnie Roth, conductor of the tour. I was a little nervous, not so much to meet him but because I was about to say "thank you" in Japanese. While bowing, I said, "doomo arigato gozaimasu", meaning "thank you very much" which is the most respectful form of thank you. We actually spoke a bit before I stepped aside letting someone else have their turn. I told him how I'd been playing his music on piano for decades and how wonderful it was to thank him in person. He hadn't done a lot of meet and greets here in states and seemed to be genuinely overwhelmed by the turnout and enthusiasm of the fans. He was very gracious and a real class act.

My Week of Boyhood Dreams continued a few days later as my best pal Sam and I headed down to Charleston to meet THE MAN. I've followed pro wrestling since 1985 or so. Yes, I know it's fake. So is LOST, CSI: MIAMI and everything else on television. Technically, it's not fake; it's choreographed and the outcome is predetermined but... I digress. Anyway, so yeah I still watch the male soap opera as it's still great fun and there's never been anyone greater than the dirtiest player in the game... the kiss-stealin', wheelin'-dealin', limousine-ridin', jet-flying son-of-a-gun who kissed ALL the girls and made 'em cry... "Nature Boy" Ric Flair! Whooooooo!!

Sam and I got to the Charleston Town Center Mall for the autograph signing at about a quarter 'till the hour and the line inside was loooooong. Thankfully, we bought the VIP package and our line wasn't quite as long. After a while, the crowd erupted which could only mean one thing - 'Naitch was in town! We waited for about 20 minutes or so and finally it was our turn. we mapped out our strategy to take each other's pictures and, at the last minute, abandoned it entirely, probably because we were so stoked. I went first and approached Ric and what do I see? He's texting! So I'm standing there for like, 15 seconds and he has the audacity to continue texting and ignoring me. I think I know the reason. You see, I'm not just a fan of Ric's. I'm a rival. Years ago, I ran the AWL, the Arena Wrestling League where I wrestled professionally as "Mr. Class" Brice Kennedy, the AWL World Heavyweight Champion. It's obvious that through my personal home video collection of my friends and I wrestling pillows and stuffed animals, he'd gotten word of my incessant challenges to him and to this day, was continuing to duck my challenge. OR... texting some random hot chick thirty years his junior for a random hook-up was a bit more important than the 241st fan standing in front of him. One of the two.

So after immediately forgiving him this little faux pas, I approached him somewhat nervously and told him that there was nothing truly original I could say that he hadn't heard but wanted to tell you about the time I was most excited to see him in the ring. I then proceeded to tell him about a match back in 1995 (SuperBrawl V, to be specific) where he was retired and was in another wrestler's corner (Vader) in a match against Hulk Hogan. Hogan, who'd retired flair months earlier, won the match and Flair was livid. He jumped in the ring and just destroyed Hogan. Ha... I was so excited to recount this with THE MAN WHO DID IT! I even started acting it out, stomping the invisible man lying on the ground in front of me and Ric was grinning ear to ear. He chuckled and said thank you and asked me for my name as he signed an old 8x10 I used to have on my cork board back in the day. Man, it was awesome! So I waited while Sam talked to him and told him about his favorite moment, the 1991 Royal Rumble when he won the WWF title.

After the autographs, we waited off to the side for our photo ops. I took a few more cell phone pics and Ric came over for the picture. I asked him if he could deliver one of his trademarked "chops" and he said he couldn't... but then did! I was chopped by Ric Flair! The best part was the actual picture though because we both held up the four fingers and posed AS HORSEMEN. Haha... for that moment, I was one of The Four Horsemen! Holding up the four fingers has become somewhat of a trademark for me so that was a sweet added touch.

On the way home, Sam spotted this guy wearing a brown camo top and blue camo pants along the side of the road and remarked "Hey, there's Guile!" Of course, I HAD to acknowledge seeing one of favorite characters from "Street Fighter II" and the SECOND celebrity today. So I rolled down my window, yelled "Guile!" and took a picture as I yelled "Sonic boom!" Haha, Sam and I laughed for like ten minutes about it! Great times!!!!!

Over my thirty plus years, and to some degree through acting and all, I've met my fair share of celebs but this was literally the most excited I'd ever been. Finally... "Mr. Class" and "The Nature Boy"! Whooooooo!! An epic week.

My site's new. Hip, hip...

Yes, I just made a bunch o' changes to BK.com including the banner you see above. My family went to Ireland a few years back and my mom took this picture of the Irish Sea.

I also added DVD and VHS covers of my movies in the sidebar. They're linked to Amazon and other sites to buy/rent the movies. Prove that you love me by buying and renting these fine feature films!

And finally, I added my acting demo reel in the sidebar. It's currently the #4 most viewed clip on YouTube. Or something.

On a personal note, to say I'm THRILLED that the Democrats have once again taken the White House would be an understatement so grave, words cannot describe! So my website isn't the only thing changing. I absolutely cannot wait to finally see President-elect Barack Obama and his new administration begin to undo the damage done by Bush and the neocons over the last eight years. Happy days will indeed soon be here again!

Mr. Phil Giroux of The Tom Green Show

The Works of Phil Giroux, Part 37: "MTV Is Number One!" (August 2003).

Well, this is another one of my famous "post something months or years after it happens" posts. As anyone who knows me (or of me) is aware, I'm a huge Tom Green fan. Now for true Tom Green fans, this means being a fan of his shows' co-hosts, too. Glenn Humplik, Phil Giroux and Derek Harvie are all hilarious cats with Phil probably being the funniest (see THE TOM GREEN SHOW's "Bear vs. Cougar" argument or the segment where Tom exploits Phil's fear of copper by dumping hundreds of pennies in his lap... sorry, I found no YouTube links).

So anyway, back in August of '03, I was cruising Phil's website, ingeniously dubbed his "computer internet site", and what do I see? Another one of his wonderfully primitive paintings on eBay. You see, Mr. Giroux is a world famous acclaimed painter and had been painting these childish looking, hilarious paintings for a while and selling them via eBay. His latest masterpiece, aptly titled "MTV is Number One!", was now ripe for the bidding. So I threw my hat into the ring and a few days later claimed it. Mr. Guy-Rocks and I exchanged a few e-mails, he wrote on THE BRICE KENNEDY SHOW's guestbook and these days, "MTV Is Number One!" hangs proudly in my office next to my edit station. I keep saying that if I ever do another episode of THE BRICE KENNEDY SHOW, "MTV Is Number One!" will be the focus and who knows? Maybe Phil Giroux himself could even be a part of it.

Brice Meets Bill Clinton, Lands New Job

Brice Kennedy and President Bill Clinton at Woodburn Circle (May 2008).

Okay, the new job has nothing to do with the president. Sue me for sensationalizing. Nonetheless, the 42nd President of the United States, William Jefferson Clinton III, fulfilled a life long wish by
meeting his favourite actor, Brice Kennedy, on the campus of West Virginia University where he was otherwise
actively stumping on behalf of the presidential campaign of his wife, Senator Hillary Clinton.

So yeah, I got to see and meet President Clinton! He came to WVU's Woodburn Circle in May and along with mom, Cara and friend Matt (who was in from Illinois and slept in his car in the Mountainlair parking garage just to see him), I was
front row to watch the nation's first black president wow the crowd with his memorable and inspiring speech... oh wait, wrong "first black president".

Nevertheless, and all jokes aside, it really was something special. After an hour long speech, he began to make his way through the crowd. Mom and sis reached out and touched his
hand, Matt got a brief hug from him (damn parking garage slumber story exploiter!) and I got my chance to shake his hand and exchange a few words. I was five feet from the former
most powerful man on the planet and just couldn't settle for touching his cufflinks. So, after he retracted his hand for a split second, I jutted out mine at full arm's length to meet him in "how
do you do"-like fashion and he obliged. While exchanging a hearty handshake, I told President Clinton that this country needs to get back to the prosperity we enjoyed in the 90's. He
thanked me and continued to schmooze his way through the thousand-plus crowd, dazzling as many folks as he could before making his exit.

It was a memorable day, despite standing for two hours in the rain waiting for the event to start and despite some pudgy, cigarette smoking loudmouth who insisted on spouting his
political views in the most obnoxious way possible to an audience of a thousand (yet also, zero). Nonetheless, the day ruled. Bill Danoff, co-writer of the West Virginia anthem "Take Me Home, Country Roads", was on hand to lead the crowd in a rousing rendition of said classic and to sing a few politically-charged protest songs. And then there was the nice girl who held my umbrella over me whilst I scarfed down a McDonald's Bacon, Egg & Cheese Biscuit. Now, that's Americana. A couple of weeks later, my family and I went to Fairmont State University for Hillary's rally but the crowd was a little bigger, we were a little later and she was little farther away our seats. While taking nothing away from Senator Clinton, it was far more memorable to have an up close and personal with President Clinton on a day I won't soon forget.

In other news... I got a new job! No longer am I one of the countless minions of the evil empire of the University of West Virginia. Now, instead of "helping" college students interpret their confusing itemized account statements on behalf of the worthless diploma-granting, money-making racket passing itself off as an educational institution, I'm helping people who really need it. These days, I'm putting smiles on the faces of patients at Mon General Hospital by using my superior comedic skills and intellect to wow them in their time of sick. Oh, and I also help them fill out a few forms on occasion. Of course, technically, I wasn't a WVU henchman since it was a temporary position (thank god) but still, I'm grateful to be in a position to actually make some kind of a positive impact. In short, and in case you haven't guessed, I hate WVU. Of course, as these stories tend to go, I'll soon hate Mon General too, but at least I'll have some fulfillment rather than guilt in a day job. I mean, I'm not helping out capitalism by producing TV commercials for local businesses anymore. I'm also not helping a university collect even more money to squander on erecting ugly buildings and overpaying their jackasses in suits but hey, putting a smile on a patient's face to help make their journey as painless as possible... I can live with that.

Updates, Recaps and Links

Hola. Slowly but surely I've started to become active again here in my own little space. I almost said "my space". Almost. I'll be revamping the whole blog here shortly but in the meantime, my Images link is finally live. Click on it in the header and you'll be whisked away to my Facebook photo album. Yes, Facebook. Almost as bad as MySpace. I also changed the Filmography link to route to my IMDb page instead of the crappy, oddly-formatted "Microsoft Word-in-a-browser" one I had at Tripod.

I added a few new links, too. I replaced the Clinton '08 link with a link to Barack Obama's site. I added links to my Facebook and YouTube pages, the latter I will be utilizing for devious purposes very soon... and I also added Joe Barlow's Cinemaslave and Tim Shrum's Lost in Schlock blogs. Check 'em out.

Also, a quick update on Erika Smith of SPLATTER BEACH fame. She's staying busy in the NYC as she's appearing opposite Marisa Tomei in the new Mickey Rourke feature THE WRESTLER, directed by Darren Aronofsky (THE FOUNTAIN, REQUIEM FOR A DREAM). She's also involved in a couple of features alongside both Billy Dee Williams and Gilbert Gottfried. Lando Calrissian AND the USA UP ALL NIGHT guy. Does it get any cooler? I am openly jealous. You can check her out here. Good luck, Erika!

So it's March and I'm still getting over 2007. I left WDTV, had a phenomenal New Year's Eve (2006 that is, don't ask about 2007), got a $1 state tax refund, started working in radio, stopped working in radio, founded my own video production business, folded my own video production business, jumped out of an airplane, moved back to Morgantown, bought The Smashing Pumpkins comeback (sort of) album Zeitgeist, met a new cousin and welcomed my friend Sam back from self-imposed exile in Germany. I should've used the DVX100 to shoot my own reality show. Money.

John Joseph Polonia (1968-2008)

John Polonia and I at the NYC Subway (June 2002).

I still really don't know what to say about my good friend John's passing. I'm 32 years old and have never said goodbye to a friend before. It’s always been the older ones, the grandmothers and distant uncles you hadn’t seen in twenty years. So when my friend Jon McBride called me to let me know the news, I was just floored.

John Polonia was the most caring, courteous guy with one of THE most twisted senses of humor, I'd ever had the privilege of knowing. Always the first to say "be careful" when you've got a long road ahead, John was such a warm guy that when you saw him smile or heard his addictive laughter, you were almost helpless in doing the same. From being my director back in 2000 to becoming a dear friend of mine with whom I'd shared many late night conversations about movies, the challenges of life or anything else under the sun... John Polonia was truly one of the most original, wonderful people I’ve known.

It's a bit daunting to try and summarize a person's life in a few paragraphs. I suppose the last thing I want to say about John is how incredibly inspiring he was, is and will continue to be. This is the thing everyone seems to be saying about him and there's a reason. It's not just about film making. It's about pursuing your dreams and John knew that better than most. I said this at his funeral a couple of weeks back. Those who grow up knowing what they want to do and end up doing it... those are often considered the lucky ones. Well, those who grow up DOING what they want to do and never stopping... those are the really lucky ones. John Polonia was one of those. He did things on his terms and lived his dream. Very few people can actually say that. Here's to you, Johnny John, my friend...

We ARE Marshall. In case you forgot.

(Original Intended Date: 12-22-06)

WE ARE MARSHALL PREMIERE

Though the premiere of WE ARE MARSHALL was actually held in Huntington, WV last week (yes, I'm serious), the film makes its national premiere in theatres across the country today.

I will never forget my experience working on this movie. From the close proximity to director McG to chatting it up with Brian Geraghty, the whole adventure was surreal. And it wasn't a "starstruck" kind of thing from a stand-in's persepctive (actually, just like my experience on MAMA FLORA'S FAMILY, I was more excited for myself than I was to see any celebrity)... no, this was far more profound. It was the visceral experience of seeing the mystical Tinseltown in front of my face and watching them work, realizing how very similar the filmmaking process was to my own independent film ventures, albeit on a larger scale. Suddenly Hollywood seemed a hell of a lot more realistic... and completely attainable.

This reaffirmation of my own drive - my goal of moving to LA - THIS is what I took away from the set of WE ARE MARSHALL. The plan that I set forth last May is in full swing and, although the timeline has shifted, I am no less focused on the future. Viva life!

The Lost Posts, Entry #6

I'm an uncle! Tonight, my sister Angela gave birth to a seven pound baby boy, Seth James Gilmore Kennedy! Named after my maternal grandfather, James Gilmore, Seth will carry on the Gilmore family name, albeit in middle name form. Seth James Gilmore Kennedy. Sounds like a president or an actor. Such distinction can only be achieved with four names.

To cap off the day, Donald Rumsfeld resigned! Couple this news with the fact that the Democrats are poised to take both the House AND Senate... aaah, the balance of power is shifting.

BLACK DEAD CURSE OF DA VINCI'S
SHOCK KNIGHT... HELL... MASS

Happy Halloween! THE DA VINCI CURSE, the movie formerly known as HELLSHOCK, then BLACK MASS, is undergoing yet another title change. It will now be known in the states as DEAD KNIGHT. It could still be released overseas under another name (one of the aforementioned perhaps) but domestically, DEAD KNIGHT is the name... at least for now. Given the number of name changes this little baby's been through, I shan't say this with any certainty, after all. I've gotta say that I don't really think this name hits home. It sounds pretty generic if you ask me. BLACK MASS is way better, in my opinion... BUT the new trailer is up at Cine Excel's site and it looks pretty cool.

Another link of interest to anyone who likes to wax philosophical about low budget cinema would be found here. Apparently, a filmmaker named Don Jolly (god, that's great) from Austin, TX posted an entire dissertation on the "philosophy" of BLOOD RED PLANET, the first movie in which I ever had a speaking role. Ha!

The Lost Posts, Entry #4

My first, last and only attempt at collage in the Shop of Photos.

(Original Intended Date: 9-24-06)

MY FIRST LOVE SCENE!

So I just got back from the SPLATTER BEACH shoot and I'm happy to say that after nearly ten years of professional acting, I finally had my first love scene.

As unsettling as it is for me to type (and for you to read) "lust" and "Brice" in the same sentence, indeed it was a lust scene. Haha... in this bedroom scene, Erika Smith and I start making out when she shoves me down on the bed, leaps on top of me and pulls down her
dress revealing two reasons for me as an actor to "stay motivated". So, cheesy comments aside, I then roll on top of her and continue making out until John yells "cut". Tough life for an actor.

Oh yeah, there were other scenes, too... mostly on the beach. Although I shot some exteriors last month in Ocean City, most of the actual beach scenes were knocked out this weekend at Preque Isle State Park, a peninsula that juts out into Lake Erie and is often referred to as Pennsylvania's only "seashore". Another highlight of this movie was my character. Rodney Spinner is a shallow, smart-ass white boy-turned-rapper, Eminem-poser type of guy who I absolutely loved playing. I don't know which was more ridiculous... my wegro accent or over-sized basketball player wannabe outfit (representin' WVU yo!).

It was cool working with Dave Fife again (wacky as always, that one) as well as Mark and John, Erin Brown, DP Brett Piper, Erika and
everyone. The only person I missed working with this go 'round was Ken Van Sant, as his scenes were shot after I left. I was wrapped in about 24 hours which easily made this the shortest shoot I've ever been on but, all told, it was a pretty kick-ass time.

SPLATTER BEACH's entry in the IMDb

The Lost Posts, Entry #3

Me, Angela, Cara and Atlantic Ocean Kennedy (August 2006).

(Original Intended Date: 9-2-06)

TWO BEACHES

My sisters and I headed out to the beach last week (God, could that sound any more "Lifetime"?). Anyway, with NewsChannel 5's resident meteorologist and pal Bob Metcalfe following us to meet his own family there, we headed east to Ocean City to claim as much of the remaining summer fun as we could. It was a short weekend trip that was really more of a combined birthday trip for Angela and Cara than an all-out excursion. We did manage to fit in some jet-skiing where I scared the hell out of Cara by going about 50 mph faster than she wanted. On a dinner cruise, I kept looking at Angela fully expecting her to succumb to nausea at any minute (pregnant women + fast boats = sickness), but she was a trooper. I also kept up my tradition of running along the shores of the Atlantic at 5 in the morning. Aaah, only at the beach.

Speaking of beaches, I've been cast in a key role in the upcoming gem, SPLATTER BEACH. The film is a bit of a throwback to the old monster movies of the 1950's, although it's set in modern day. Incidentally, while I was in Ocean City, I shot some beach exteriors for the movie. Anyway, so I play Rodney Spinner, a shallow, late twenty-something white/urban/poser bling-bling knock-off moron type. Think Kevin Federline with even less credibility, or, if you prefer, any young white male nowadays. The movie features Erin Brown (a.k.a. Misty Mundae) as well as Erika Smith, Ken Van Sant and Dave Fife. PETER ROTTENTAIL fans (ahem) may get a kick out of seeing the on-screen reunion pairing of Dave and I. While we didn't exactly reprise our roles as James and Lenny, I think we might be making a bigger splash (yeah, pun, yeah) with this one. Always fun working with that guy. SPLATTER BEACH is the first film on EI Independent Cinema's new Camp Pictures label and as from what I understand, it's slated for a Summer '07 release.

Ha! Funny story... Cara told me that our cousin Lynette had recently rented a movie. So here she was curled up under a blanket, popcorn in tow, all ready for a good 'ol fashioned horror movie, when all of a sudden she screams at the screen, "Hey!! That's my cousin!" Without realizing I was in it, she'd rented HELLGATE! Poor, poor girl.

The Lost Posts, Entry #2

"Nature Boy" Ric Flair does the strut of eternal greatness (August 2006).

(Original Intended Date: 8-13-06)

WHOOOOOOOO!!

As most of my friends and family know, I'm a lifelong pro wrestling fan and have always been a huge mark (wrestling lingo for "fan") for the greatest professional wrestler to ever grace the squared circle, "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair. Hulk Hogan, Steve Austin, Andre the Giant... none of them were ever even in the same league as Ric Flair. They weren't worthy of lacing the man's boots and couldn't even, in the words of fellow grappler Triple H, "hold His jock". From the lavish robes to the melodramatic style to a ring entrance so extravagant, it featured the theme song of God himself - the majestic "Also Sprach Zarathrustra" (of 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY), I've always appreciated the bravado... the over-the-top drama of Flair. Imagine that. Me appreciating drama.

I'd had opportunities to see him perform before. WWE and WCW shows with Flair on the bill had previously come to Charleston, Pittsburgh and other stones-throw cities but, for one reason or another, I never made it. So when my good friend and co-worker, Jody Hinkle, told me that an upcoming WWE show in Charleston was to feature Flair, I flipped. "Not this time", I said. At 57, who knows how much longer Ric'll be wrestling. I've seen one God as I witnessed Michael Jordan and His Bulls win the NBA Championship at the United Center back in '96. It was now time to see another as Ric Flair would rock the Civic Center in '06. Silly as some regard it, pro wrestling (and ergo Flair) is so ridiculously entertaining, I'll probably never stop watching it. As my good friend Melissa would say, "the boy in the man".

So, long story short, Jody and I made our way to the state capital and indeed, saw Flair "style and profile" as only He could. We saw Him arrive in His Lincoln Town Car with His trademark smile and all-encompassing persona. Unfortunately, He didn't stick around for autographs. Damnit. But, I did get to stand about thirty feet from The Man and bask in His eternal greatness and, as the all-too-blurry picture above (damn Kodak digital camera) can attest, Flair can still strut His stuff and likely will until the day He dies in the ring... as it should be.

Whooo indeed.

The Lost Posts, Entry #1

Over the past eight months, this site has been without updates. No news reported, no humor attempted, no effort exerted on my part whatsoever. Why had I not posted on my own site since last May? Was I laid out with mono? Kidnapped in Bulgaria and held for ransom? Working on a new MySpace alternative? Did one of my fourteen fans worldwide stalk and then kill me? I'm sure all of my friends, family and the collective internet community have been holding their breath. The answer is as simple as people who watch reality television (no offense, 95% of the U.S. population) - I was lazy.

Truth is, I've had lots of cool stuff happen in the second half of 2006. After the WE ARE MARSHALL shoot, I found myself concentrating more on my renewed interest in heading west and somehow just got out of the habit of posting. So, to make up for many moons worth of seeing a BriceKennedy.com sans updates, I now present a mini-series of updates known as "The Lost Posts". I give you... Entry #1:

(Original Intended Date: 5/15/06)

BRICE KENNEDY AT CANNES!!

Just when I thought life couldn't get any more surreal, what movie makes an appearance at the legendary Cannes Film Festival? None other than THE DA VINCI CURSE!! Yes, THAT Cannes Film Festival! A movie I appeared in! The French Riviera's 59th Festival de Cannes played host to my latest venture, THE DA VINCI CURSE (formerly known as BLACK MASS). The film was taken there by the distributor to generate interest and, while it may not have been treated to a red carpet premiere with Johnny Depp and Martin Scorcese in attendance, it was featured at Cannes, possibly even being screened. Yes, while Ron Howard's THE DA VINCI CODE had its world premiere at Cannes, Jon McBride and the Polonias' THE DA VINCI CURSE also made its presence known! Hells yeahs! CBS, Blockbuster Video, Warner Bros. and now Cannes! My devious plan of global media saturation/domination is nearly complete! Of course, if it WERE to recieve a big budget, blockbuster-style premiere, I'm thinking the Palme d'Or would be a fitting prize...

Hundreds of extras converge on the set of WE ARE MARSHALL (May 2006).

The Warner Bros. feature WE ARE MARSHALL tells the tale of the 1970 plane crash that killed all 75 passengers including most of the Marshall University football players and coaches. The film just wrapped filming in nearby Huntington, WV (and now continues in Atlanta) and is helmed by director McG, of CHARLIE'S ANGELS and THE OC fame. WE ARE MARSHALL stars Matthew McConaughey (FAILURE TO LAUNCH, A TIME TO KILL), Oscar-nominee David Strathairn (GOOD NIGHT AND GOOD LUCK), Matthew Fox (LOST), Kate Mara (BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN), Ian McShane (DEADWOOD, LOVEJOY), Anthony Mackie (8 MILE), Brian Geraghty (JARHEAD), January Jones (AMERICAN WEDDING) and one very special stand-in... yours truly (GORILLA WARFARE: BATTLE OF THE APES).

I submitted my res/headshot a couple of months ago and hadn't heard back from anyone so two days out from shooting, I figured that was that. Well, a few weeks ago I get a call on my cell five minutes before we're slated to go live for the 5:00 news. The casting agent asked me if I would be a stand-in for Brian Geraghty ("Fergus" from JARHEAD). I met her with an eager "hell yes" and the adventure began! Now, at this point, I didn't know whether or not I'd be a stand-in only or if I would get the chance to actually photo double (you know, the "Hey, that’s the back of my head" kind of thing) so my mind was spinning. I mean, this was awesome news but guess what? I had to get off of the phone because it was time for the news! Damnit!! It was like having Ed McMahon hand me a check and say, "Congratulations, Brice Kennedy! You've just won ten million dollars! Now stand still and be completely silent for an hour and a half." Are you kidding me?!?

So after my torturous hour and a half of running camera for the evening news, I immediately ran to the producer's computer and began looking up everything I could on the production, actors, crew and tried to research my "odds" of photo-doubling versus standing-in. I had WORK to do! At any rate, this wasn't my first time on a large-scale production like this but this WAS my first show where I stood within 20 feet of a major Hollywood director for nearly the entire shoot. Being a stand-in for a major feature like this is an amazing experience. It's really the ultimate filmmaking internship. I mean, I'm standing in the same tent as the director and producers, walking by and sharing a casual smile with David Freakin' Strathairn, meeting Brian Geraghty, etc. The networking possibilities were endless and you can bet I made the most of it.

The absolute highlight of the shoot came in two parts. One night, we were shooting from 9PM until 4 in the morning on a closed off section of Fourth Avenue downtown and I was standing in for Ian McShane (DEADWOOD, LOVEJOY). Another stand-in, Mark, and I had a 9PM call time and were the only ones slated to arrive then. He ended up showing up a bit later so it looked as if I might get to make a solo grand entrance! After heading over to wardrobe to get color-covered and the usual confusion regarding where exactly to report, I found Chad from casting and he ushered me off to the set. The crowd was unreal. There were hundreds of Huntington residents lining the streets, heads hanging out of windows, filling up the parking garage across the street - talk about an audience! So Chad from casting and I, with my coat on a hanger tucked under my arm, pushed our way through the crowd toward the yellow tape where the set was marked off. As we ducked under to go on set, I must have gotten a hundred onlookers staring at me and even a few gasps! Talk about feeling like a star! Of course no one knew who I was. They only knew that some crewmember was ushering this actor onto the set so he MUST have been someone! Granted, they might have seen PETER ROTTENTAIL or BLACK MASS but I kinda doubt it. :)

Later that night came the other highlight – I had the privilege of being personally directed by McG. Mark and I were blocking out a scene and I was to turn my head slightly to the left and walk about twenty paces toward the Steadicam operator. It was brief but memorable to be able to introduce myself to McG and have him personally direct me through the scene. Ahhh, could this be a preview of things to come when I leave the Mountain State for filmier pastures?

The two questions everyone keeps asking me over the last few weeks are:

1) “Did you get to meet Matthew McConaughey?” (queried most often by members of the female persuasion)

… and 2) Will I be able to see you in it?

Well, I didn't meet Matthew as his scenes were wrapped before mine even started, but I did spot him near his trailer, about 20 feet away, talking to someone from wardrobe. Number two: although you won't see me in the film (no photo double work unfortunately), you will see my name in the credits as long as they don’t cut stand-in credits, which does happen.

Anyway, the whole experience was truly a highlight of my acting career and has completely reinvigorated me with regard to my acting and filmmaking. You know, there's a creative ebb and flow that occurs with actors, filmmakers, musicians, visual artists, etc. It's not that I've felt as I were in a rut or anything but I haven't been very proactive lately with acting. Well, with this experience fresh in my mind and all of the contacts and “education” I've now acquired, I think I've filled my creative tank for a long time to come. In fact, I've been thinking for some time now about heading out to southern California when I finish my bachelor's (in about a year and half, knock on wood). Well you know, if you’re going to do something, you may as well do it right. So I’m planning on moving not to the safer, more affordable and “realistically-sensible” city of Oceanside. No, if I’m heading to Californ-I-A, it's going to be to the City of Angels, baby! Brice Kennedy in Los Angeles! Bachelor’s or not, it’ll no doubt be a humbling step back in standard-of-living. Rent will be twice as high for a place a third as spacious and likely shared with a roommate but hey – that’s the adventure, right? Anyway, it’s a little early to go into a lot of detail but that is the plan as I see it.

Also, I'm gearing up to finally make my directorial splash this summer with a short film or two featuring some familiar faces and the possibility of being incorporated into an anthology for DVD release. Just a possibility but stay tuned.

WE ARE MARSHALL is on track for a theatrical release sometime in December and will premiere in Los Angeles... and Huntington. :) My IMDb credit is already live!

BLOOD RED PLANET finally comes to DVD (October 2005).

It was bound to happen.

BLOOD RED PLANET, the first movie in which I ever had a speaking role, was finally released on DVD. The film was actually put out a few months ago but I'm lazy and don't update my site that much. At any rate, BLOOD RED PLANET is being offered by Brentwood Home Video as part of a 4-movie set entitled "Galaxy of Terror". You can check it out at Amazon, DeepDiscountDVD.com, Barnes & Noble, etc., etc.

From one of my first films to the latest... BLACK MASS is VERY close to being picked up by a distributor. The details are being hammered out as I write this and from what I understand, it could end up being available nationwide at a certain recognizable retailer. Around the globe, millions of grubby little fingers are crossed.

Also, Episode 3 of my show, The B-Movie Special, is now finished. The B-Movie Special pays homage to independent films and filmmakers everywhere. Mark Polonia, John Polonia, Todd Carpenter, Mia Davis, Jon McBride, Danny Cameron, Kim Gibson and a slew of other actors and personalities make this episode a very, very special one. Two more episodes left to edit and the circle of life is complete.

Incidents and Accidents

Three weeks ago...

Three weeks back, I was heading home after some Christmas shopping when I got into a pretty serious auto accident... a head on collision resulting in a 65 mph impact for myself and the other guy. I had yet to buckle up so thank god for the airbag. Overall I'm fine save for some bumps and bruises. Needless to say it could've been a lot worse. I'm here which is all that matters.

Of course, it's even greater to be alive AND driving again. Just days ago, I got a new set... a 2002 Pontiac Sunfire... midrange miles but for a helluva price. All told, December has been an adventurous roller coaster of a month. Is THIS what it's like to be 30??

JLH + BRK = OMG.

Well I AM single again. I can dream.... and have.

So my new place is awesome. A huge new TV, a fridge stocked full of root beer and lots of room to do Balki's Dance of Joy. I forgot how refreshing it can be coming home to your own little world, answering to no one. It's crazy how much personal stuff I've gotten done in the last couple of months. Refreshing... though sometimes lonely.

So the Episode 6 Premiere of THE BRICE KENNEDY SHOW back in August went well. Scaring Mommy on her way to work, The Zweiner Brothers rocking the MAC, the Larry Nelson interview... Episode 6 put smiles o' plenty on many a face in Motown. The crowd definitely could have been bigger but those in attendance were diehards and loved ones. A lower turnout was due to a couple of things. The MAC's film festival could have used some better promotion. Also, folks in Morgantown assumed that anything to do with the arts that week was cancelled due to the Don Knotts Festival being postponed. I was sad to see Don cancel. Sitting on the board for the Don Knotts Festival, I was counting the days until I could work with him. Maybe next year?

So I've been busy lately editing Episode 3 of my show, featuring Mark and John Polonia with Jon McBride and Jaymee Pro. After I'm done with that, I've got a few other artistic endeavors on my plate. Editing the Digital Domain (Reedsville) episodes of the show, Episodes 4 and 5, is obviously a top priority. I think guests Eric McGuire and Jacob Young assumed I've dropped off the face of the earth. You can expect the long-rumored Season 1 DVD sometime around Spring 2017. In the much nearer future, the Polonias and I may be teaming up to shoot a joint feature. I'm trying to tap a couple of names for the project. Time will tell how it pans out.

Life is not the same.

Since I last updated this blog, my world has turned upside down and inside out. I write this entry with a solemn disposition and a heavy heart. After two and a half years of being together, Melissa and I have called it quits. We decided to split up a few weeks ago as we're both headed in very different directions. After months of indecision, we gradually came to accept this as inevitable. That being said, my time with Melissa has meant more to me than I can say and has truly been one of the most incredible experiences of my life.

With many, many good times and the not-so-good times few and far between, I take away so much from this chapter of my life. During our time together, I've learned a lot about love, relationships, family and what's important in life. Life is short... and fragile. I've learned to live every day to its absolute fullest. In the last two and a half years, I've grown in ways too numerous to count. The cliche "parted as friends" doesn't apply as we're not parting... just changing. We remain very close.

We always will.

Turn the page.

The Savior of Comedy Returns

Episode 6 of THE BRICE KENNEDY SHOW, taped live at the MAC in May 2003, features long-time local radio staple Larry Nelson as our guest, Billy and Dan Zweiner of the band Sandra Black as musical guests and Jamie Arnold, of U92 radio fame, as the co-host. Brice visits the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, takes on his lawn, destroys something with his trusty sledgehammer and scares the bejezzus out of his mommy on her way to work.

In addition to THE BRICE KENNEDY SHOW, other screenings include: a documentary on independent film directors Mark and John Polonia, the short films PLAY (also by me), THE JANITOR and other films. Looking at The BK Show through the lens of Todd Bowman (May 2003).

I finally finished post production on Episode 6 of THE BRICE KENNEDY SHOW. The sixth installment of the show was shot in May of 2003 at the Monongalia Arts Center in Morgantown.

My guest is Larry Nelson, formerly of Froggy 102.7's morning show, who has worked in radio and television for more than 30 years. Also, Billy and Dan Zweiner of the band Sandra Black stop in for a tune or two and I venture to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland to interview random persons and spread THE BRICE KENNEDY SHOW love.

Eventually, I'll be putting the entire series (Episodes 1-6) on DVD. I've been asked if I'm planning to air the show again on public access. I think that as I'm concentrating on reporting, it'd be a conflict of interest to air the show in its current form so, for now at least, I have no plans to air or market the show. But one never knows what the future holds. And if you really wanna see it, just give me a yell. ;)

Pumpkins to Reform

1993 Chrysler Lebaron with 54K miles on it for $1250. Not bad. (June 2005)

So I meet this guy recently who tells me to "come on down" to Missouri. I told him the "Price" was definitely "Right". All lame-o "Price Is Right" puns aside, I just got back from Ozark, Missouri where I did indeed get my new car.

I found my new best friend on eBay of all places and despite some initial skepticism decided not to pass up this deal. It's a 1993 Chrysler Lebaron 4-door sedan with a 3.0L V6 and only 54,000 miles. The best part? I got it for $1250 so I definitely made out alright. My friend Danny Cameron, of THE BRICE KENNEDY SHOW and WEST VIRGINIA WORKS "fame", accompanied me on my 14 hour journey to the Show Me state. We passed through Columbus and Indianapolis and stopped off in St. Louis where we got to see the Gateway Arch and drove over medians in our late-model Dodge Dakota rental.

Things turned a bit dramatic as the starter blew just minutes before arriving in Ozark. Wade, the seller, fixed the problem at no charge and everyone was all smiles again. We were exhausted as we turned right around and drove back, this time through Kentucky. So I got a kick-ass road trip AND a kick-ass deal out of it. I wonder what I'll do next weekend.

Back From Hell

Well, I just got back last week from Wellsboro where the Polonias and Jon McBride finished principal photography on HELLSHOCK. In the movie, I play Private Danby, one of four U.S. Army soldiers who find themselves in the middle of Bulgaria during WWII. The band of soldiers encounter an odd Bulgarian priest who isn't all that he seems. I shan't say too much more about the plot but I will say that it was awesome to finally get to work with Bob Dennis, Brian Berry and Ken VanSant in person. We've all been in features together but always shot our scenes separately so that was nice. It was also great staying at Ye Olde Germania Store and Lodge, a rustic old time country store and lodge from the 1800's. The atmosphere and hospitality really added to the trip. Thanks Lonnie and Roxy!

HELLSHOCK is slated for a mid-December release and the guys hope to have a theatrical premiere at the Arcadia Theater in downtown Wellsboro. You can find more pics and info on HELLSHOCK and other films at The Cult of Polonia fan site.

Also, a quick shout to my man Optimus Prime over in Iraq. Optimus - yes, the guy from Ohio who legally changed his name to that of the Transformers character - Optimus is a firefighter in the National Guard and currently stationed in Iraq. He recently sent me some pictures from over there which I'll probably post in the near future. Godspeed, brother.

Music For Your Ears

Yeah, so I haven't posted anything of note in a couple of weeks. Music you say?

Sandra Black. These guys have been on my show several times and their sound is so addictingly unique... just go there.

The Emergency. What can I say? If you aren't listening to their stuff, you'd better call Jan Care Ambulance Service as you obviously have a serious medical deficiency of some sort.

New Movies!

RAZORTEETH, now available everywhere... starring ME! (April 2005).

My latest movie just hit the streets! A downed plane! A lake with bikini-clad babes! A Russian experiment gone awry! Underwater shots of piranha! Yes, RAZORTEETH is out on DVD!

In the newest offering from the legendary Polonia Brothers, I play FBI Agent Dawson... one of the bad guys, which is a nice change. Agent Dawson dispatches another agent to a resort lake where a crashed plane has unleashed legions of killer pirahna. As the distributor, SRS Cinema, put it, RAZORTEETH "takes a bite out of old fashioned drive-in cinema". RAZORTEETH is available from Barnes & Noble, Netflix, Best Buy, Amazon, Overstock.com, CD Universe or directly from SRS Cinema.

At the end of the month, I'll also be traveling to Wellsboro to shoot the next adventure, the WWII supernatural thriller HELLSHOCK. You can check out more info about the movie at the fan site The Cult of Polonia.

We go now live... to Brice Kennedy (March 2005).

It's official! I'm a reporter!

After months of paying my dues as a lowly news intern, I've been hired as a Weekend Reporter! I should be on the air in a month or two and can be seen on NewsChannel 5's Weekend Edition Saturdays at 6:00pm.

I'll be all over the map covering Monongalia, Marion, Harrison and the lower counties. I'll also be damned busy as I'm still pretty green. Nonetheless, I'm starting this weekend and can't wait to dive in. And so it begins.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://bricekennedy.blogspot.com/2005_04_01_archive.html#111362354966397242' title='For Your Hometown News...

Damn, today was strange.

At work, the morning show was preempted due to Pope John Paul II's
funeral, the daily groove was thrown into a state of disarray, and one of our anchors left WDTV for greener
pastures. As a coworker said, NOTHING about today was routine.

Anyway, a funny story a friend told me a while back... he was sitting on his couch half-asleep and watching an episode of NYPD Blue. Sipowicz was at the police station interrogating some punk when he says "You tell your boy, BRICE KENNEDY, that we're comin' for him!" Ha! Apparently, David E. Kelley is a fan of my show!

The films of Mark and John Polonia finally get their due thanks to the new fan club, The
Cult of Polonia. Stop in and check out the pics from the FEEDERS and PETER ROTTENTAIL sets.

Welcome to the NEW BriceKennedy.com

So here it is. Simplified. Streamlined. Personal.

This is my new "blog" site. Blog. Short for "weblog" so they say. Why not "eblog" then? Hmph. So it's the latest web hipster craze. I still feel weird calling anything a "blog" so from this point forward, this is my "site". I thought that since it's kind of a pain to keep up both my acting and public access show sites, I'd just have one home, home on the web. I won't be updating my old acting site and will only be updating THE BRICE KENNEDY SHOW site if I do anything with the show. There are links to both in the sidebar to the right.

I also wanted to revamp the site to make it more personal instead of just posting updates about my acting endeavors. So expect to hear anything from my take on politics to the exploits of a man working in TV news to what I had for breakfast this morning (Fruity Pebbles, most likely). Feel free to check out my Filmography page which includes my acting resume. I'll be adding an image gallery and a more thorough Bio page soon, too. Guess that about does it on this end. Cheers!
